Projects

TrafficStream

A app to look at data of byciclysts and find interessting spots. Versions for velocity and source-target-relation exist. It was build on top of Deck.gl using frameworks like React.

Quiz Website

A website to build and play quizzes online. It uses WebSockets for communication.

There are different views for creating, moderating and participating in different games. You can ask simple Buzzer, image, audio, guessing and even location questions involving a map.

The moderator sees each participants buzzers and is capable of distributing points. Build with SQLite, React and Express.js.

Smashmatches

A website to find VODs of competive matches of the "Super Smash Bros." Games.

You can find matches based on character, players and games. There are also automatically generated statistics based on the data.

All data is automatically crawled through the Youtube API and categorized using regular expressions. Build with SQLite, React and Express.js.

MODELAR

A mobile AR Application. It uses Unity and Vuforia to augment the visualization of a kidney. It is used to find suitable visualizations for surgeons. Therefore a GUI with different effect sliders and color selectors is provided.

Interactions are saved to later evaluate suitable visualization strategies.

Image Inpainting

A machine learning program that is capable of filling in missing parts of images. A similar technique was used to higher the resolution of an image.

MeshBool

A solution to cut meshes in Unity based on boolean operations. This could be improved in the future using compute shaders.

Terrain Generator

A solution to generate simple hills in Unity that could be used in a platformer or adventure game. It uses layered bezier splines to calculate the shape of the terrain.

MonoGame Gameboy Emulator

A Gameboy emulator developed in MonoGame. It is not useable at this state, but I was able to load the tileset and get to the titlescreen of tetris! That's something, i guess.
I learned a lot on how CPUs work with this project and it was interessting to read about such an fascinating system.

Adaptive Mesh Scaler

A system that works similar to Unitys 9-sliced Sprites, but for meshes. The user can setup a area that is scaled, while everything outside of it is not scaled (on all axis). This way, meshes can be scaled with less distortion.

Magic AR Lenses

My master thesis. These magic lenses are rendererd through a HoloLens and a Wall-sized touch display can be used to interact with them. This application works for multiple users and has a lot of different filters per lens.
The development of this involved a lot of different aspects, e.g. rendering on low-end hardware, network communication and UI Development.

Games

Unsteakables

A mobile action game, where you save cute animals with different kinds of weapons. Created in my first year at Anteater Games

Little Jumper

A released mobile jumping game, where you can aim your jump by dragging over the Touchscreen. My first released solo project.

Tounge Tale

A platformer with a unique twist, set to release in 2023. You play as a frog against the dangers of climate change.

Planet Game

A small prototype for trying out procedural generation and different kinds of shaders. The player walks on the planet surface, can place basic constructions and is followed by aliens. A HDRP Version also exists.

This might become a strategy game in the future, where the player has to travel different galaxies in order to survive.

Bomby Zomby

A small chaotic game jam game. Get the highest score on the global leaderboards!

TimeBOMB

TimeBOMB was a project where me and a team of three other people tried to replicate a Bomberman Gamestation, letting all four players experience another time period of gaming history. It was shown in the "Technische Sammlung" museum in Dresden.

Gravity Fighter

My current project. A 2D-Shooter where you and your enemies can rotate their gravity. Uses technogoly like HDRP, Photon 2, VFX, Shader Graph and much more.

Learned a lot about networking, modelling and texture creation using Substance Designer on this project.

Gravity Collect

One of my first projects, created using Java and LWJGL/OpenGL. It is a Jump&Run in which one can alter Gravity.

Neo Puck

NeoPuck was created as part of a game jam in 48 hours. It is a modern take on Pong. One can rotate the racket and the playstyle changes after each goal.

The physics based gameplay was a part of the Game that anyone enjoyed alot.

Way Up!

A little Unity Game for Ludum Dare Game Jam. It is your goal to climb as high as possible without touching the rising lava. Therefore the little tank has to move blocks and avoid bombs.

Paper Party

Mario Party like Game with flat Characters.

Skater Ball

A very simple mobile Game. You must not let the ball touch the ground. You can move your skateboard by tilting your smartphone. The ball physics become more and more unpredictable over time!

About me

My name is Remke Albrecht. I am a 27 years old media computer science student from Berlin, Germany. I’ve always had a huge interest in technologies and science in general, but my passion manifested in one topic – programming.

Grewing up with two siblings in a small town near Hannover, I got my first handheld - a Game Boy - at the age of six and still remember asking myself back then: “How is this done? How can I create a game on my own?”. The thought of developing my own programms and games, creating worlds for others to play with and being able to build something completly unique blew my mind from the get-go.

Serval years had to pass before I was able to come a step closer to my dream – with my first computer. I started modding PC Games and learning the basics of programming languages like Java and C++. The fascination of the endless possibilites never broke, up until this day.

However, my interest in technology was not the only turnout of my urge to get creative. I also learned serval instruments over the years and sang in the boys choir Hannover. Going on tours to China and other countries at a young age taught me not only to take responsibilty, but also to be a team player. Every single member of the choir has to be wholeheartedly involved for it to work, which is something I try to apply to every new project I attend until today.

After the tenth grade I changed to high school specialized technology to focus more on computer science. That’s where I really started to learn about more advanced programming concepts. I felt that programming was the part of my education I enjoyed most. Therefore, it was soon pretty clear to me, that I want to go to university, to learn even more about computers and programming.

From 2015 until 2020 I have studied successfully at the Technische Universität Dresden and learned a lot ever scince. And now I had some projects winning prices, like the German Multimedia price, as you can see in the portfolio above. I am certain that this joy will fuel my ambition for a life-time.
